"I could not have had a better summer job"
I am probably not the only student who has ever been stressed over finding a summer job that relates to the studies. Therefore, many can probably understand that I was more than pleased when offered a summer job at Atlas Copco Corporate Communications. The timing could not have been better, since I had just finished my studies in Media and Communications at Örebro University.
I got the job because I had contacted the company at an earlier stage about a trainee position, but the timing proved to be bad. My application was then kept and I was offered a summer job instead. Something I really appreciated.
Something that came as a positive surprise was the fact that I was given responsibility right from the start. Among other things, I have coordinated a special issue of a management magazine. Other tasks have been to update the intranet and gather historical facts about the company. As a bonus, my English has improved, since I have worked closely with an English speaking colleague, and furthermore, English is the corporate language of Atlas Copco.
My three months with Atlas Copco has been a true educational experience, both professionally and personally. I have learnt a lot about the organization as such. For example, Simba, known to most people as a sweet baby lion is something completely different within Atlas Copco. I have also learned about my own working methods and I have been given the chance to work with very competent people. In this way I have learnt through their procedures and experiences.
However, the best thing of all; the summer job has led to continued employment for me within the company. My work life could not have had a better start.
