Atlas Copco restructures business to focus on construction sector
Atlas Copco has announced that, from July 1st 2011, its portable energy business, comprising of the sales, marketing and servicing of compressors, pumps, generators and lighting towers, will now be part of its new Construction Technique business area and in the UK will be operated by the Construction and Mining division.
Part of a major global re-structuring programme, this important move out of the Compressor Technique business area takes account of the many synergies and relationships that exist within the portable energy products and construction tools markets, applications, customer base and distribution organisation. It reinforces the company’s commitment to the construction and demolition market sector.
The integration will result in greater customer focus by an expanded sales team with a wider product portfolio. This will comprise the portable energy product ranges, construction and demolition tools, plus attachments, and concrete applications equipment including screeds, pokers and planers.
There will be three regional hubs for the UK: Stirling in Scotland, Hemel Hempstead in Hertfordshire and Port Laoise in Ireland. All have workshop facilities for equipment overhaul and engine re-fits, together with compressor and generator maintenance carried out by expert service engineers with construction site experience.
Commenting on the importance and benefits of the business area re-structuring programme, Ronnie Leten, President and CEO of the Atlas Copco Group said:
“With more focused business areas, each will have a strong platform from which they can deliver the offering to their customers. It allows us to better capture the sales and service synergies between our construction businesses and to capitalise on the future growth of construction projects around the world.”
